Peter Oppenheimer becomes the new vice president of Apple's retail division

Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's CFO, was appointed this week as vice president of the retail division within the same company. The position was left vacant following the resignation of Ron Johnson who left Apple to become the new CEO of JC Penney. For several weeks, Apple tried to find a replacement for Ron Johnson, but it seems that for now the most capable people are still among the board of directors of the company, but I don't think that Oppenheimer will hold two positions for a long time.

The decision of those from Apple is interesting because it offers much more responsibilities to a VP and thus trapped in the management of the financial division of the Apple company. I don't know what impact this decision will have on the way the retail division will evolve, but it is clear that next year Apple will have to find a person really capable of developing its chain of stores.
