Video: Samsung does not see Apple TV as a revolutionary product

In the video clip above we have what Samsung understands to be the television of the future. Some of the functions are really interesting and useful for a TV, but the way Samsung knew how to execute them leaves something to be desired. The TV does not understand all the commands, it is difficult to respond to some of them and surfing the Internet using gestures is ... more than ineffective. Given that Samsung presented a smart TV that one day will convince you to throw a slipper into it, the managers of the Asian company say that a possible TV produced by Apple it will not be a revolutionary one.

When Steve Jobs talked about he's 'cracked it', he's talking about connectivity – so we've had that in the market already for 12 months, it's nothing new, it was new for them because they didn't play in the space. It's old news as far as the traditional players are concerned and we have broadened that with things like voice control and touch control; the remote control for these TVs has a touch pad.

What Samsung is showing is great, it's amazing but only as an idea because the software behind that TV is terrible at the moment. I would like to be able to access web pages directly from the browser, I would like to have a complete browsing experience, I would like to be able to play games on the TV, I would like to be able to control it by voice commands but watching the clip video above, I think these things are still far from reality. Maybe Apple won't bring many new functions with its TV, but if it succeeds in making a product that works as smoothly as iOS, then the TV in the video clip above will be forgotten.

People don't want to struggle to write a web address by shaking hands, people don't want to navigate through the page by moving the cursor to the corners of the TV, people want a good experience offered by a fluid and easy-to-use operating system. What Samsung presents above is far from that and I hope that until the launch of the TV it changes a lot through its operating system, otherwise I don't see how it could convince people to pay thousands of dollars for such a product.
