Apple could launch interactive books for users tomorrow

Tomorrow Apple will be the host of an educational event that will take place in New York and according to sources close to the Cupertino company it was found out that we could witness the presentation of a program that will ease the work of authors who publish books in the iBookStore. Basically, Apple would launch a conceptual program called Garageband for e-books that would greatly simplify the process of developing an e-book for iDevices, giving users the opportunity to make a book as easily as they make a song using Garageband app.

At the same time, however, authoring standards-compliant e-books (despite some promises to the contrary) is not as simple as running a Word document of a manuscript through a filter. The current state of software tools continues to frustrate authors and publishers alike, with several authors telling Ars that they wish Apple or some other vendor would make a simple app that makes the process as easy as creating a song in GarageBand. Our sources say Apple will announce such a tool on Thursday.

Besides this new tool, it seems that Apple could launch something related to interactive books, but more information about this subject is not known. Practically, Apple could make the work of all those who publish books in the iBookStore much easier, but they could also offer content for educational institutions that have bought iPad tablets.
