58 malware attacks on the Mac OS X platform during Q2 - Q4 2011

As you already know, the Mac OS X platform is one of the safest platforms for computers if we look at the number of viruses/malware that threaten it every day. Between April and December 2011, only 58 malware attacks were registered on the Mac OS X platform and the figure is the lowest compared to everything that happens on the Windows platform. A computer security company has published some details in relation to these malware attacks and we are talking about 58 different types of malware, trojan-downloaders being the main method by which the platform was attacked in recent months. In second place is the backdoor type malware and from here everything is divided into various categories in which very few attacks have been discovered.

Practically, Apple is currently "lucky" to be safe from attacks of this kind, but the Mac OS X operating system is built in such a way that the only possibility of infecting it is by tricking the user. Practically all the attacks registered in 2011 were based on a program that tricked the user who installed it because the programs could not be installed by themselves. Although Apple has built its operating system well, in the future I believe that attacks will increase significantly, but they will probably not exceed those recorded for the Windows platform.
