During the holidays, the number of tablets in the US doubled

The period of the winter holidays is one of the most profitable for gadget manufacturers and 2011 did not disappoint from any point of view. A recent study conducted on the American continent highlighted the fact that the number of tablets owned in the USA it doubled in just one month, it shows that this kind of electronic products are extremely sought after among consumers. Both classic tablets and Ebook readers have experienced the same growth and at the moment 19% of Americans have a tablet or an Ebook Reader at home and we are talking about a fairly large figure considering the US population.

The surge in ownership of tablet computers was especially notable among those with higher levels of education and those living in households earning more than $75,000. More than a third of those living in households earning more than $75,000 (36%) now own a tablet computer. And almost a third of those with college educations or higher (31%) own the devices. Additionally, those under age 50 saw a particularly significant leap in tablet ownership.

It is very likely that the iPad tablet was the most popular tablet during the holidays, but the study above includes all the tablet models currently available on the market. The good part is that the world is becoming more and more interested in this kind of products and this will give courage to manufacturers to take even bigger risks and develop much better tablets.
