How do you permanently mute a Mac's startup sound?

Those who own a Mac know that when they open the device, a rather loud "gong" is heard. Until OS X Lion, that gong could be closed from the settings menu or there were programs that closed it. Temporarily, the Volume Down button of the keyboard can be pressed to stop hearing the sound, but I want a permanent solution. I tried several new programs on the net and none of them worked, so if there is a person among you who managed to turn off the boot sound of a Mac, I would also like a viable solution.

UPDATE: And you can find the solution in the clip below thanks to Bogdan.
