Video: Vokul - a new attempt to bring Siri to the App Store

Vokul is a new application disposable in the App Store that tries to bring a cheap Siri for all iDevice owners. Vokul allows users to utter certain voice commands to listen to music, listen to a radio station, send messages or dictate text, but the interaction with iOS applications is extremely limited. Like Siri, Vokul uses the Nuance dictation recognition system, so theoretically we should have a functionality similar to that of Siri from this point of view.

Get vokul – a powerful new voice control app and Siri alternative for your iOS device! vokul is the first 100% handsfree app for your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad that allows you to DJ music and podcasts, dictate text messages, and call contacts in your address book, without pressing any buttons! the voice is fast, accurate, and tuned for noisy environments, like your car! Use vokul's simple voice commands to control your device's media player, even while audio is playing. You can skip backward and forward within a track, navigate between tracks, pause/resume playback, and speed up or slow down podcasts! Launch vokul and connect your device to your vehicle or home stereo system for the ultimate handsfree audio experience!

Although in the video clip above Vokul seems to work without problems, I bring the application back to your attention Evi which is announced to be a replacement for Siri but turned out to be a big big disappointment. Unlike Evi, Vokul costs €2.39 and I don't know if this price is worth investing in a sour application that could disappoint you extremely easily considering that it is far from offering the same functionality as Siri. Vokul was developed by a man and his wife and next week it will be updated again, the update bringing the possibility of bringing support for Bluetooth, for writing emails, for writing updates on Twitter or Facebook plus support for some other accents.

  1. I put it in the wish list at AppShopper. It was free until Dec 15, maybe it will be again.
Zaone, I think you should do an article about AppShopper. It helped me save tens of euros and, I don't know how many applications I wanted, I got them for free like this or at 0.79.

  2. I want you to know that evi is working fine now... so they solved the problem with the srv, the inconvenience is that it doesn't bring complex functions... that is, it answers a question and that's it - that is, if you want to know a word or information, you tell it and Evi talk about her, but she can't follow a conversation or open applications from IP - to create reminders, etc.

Ps it would be cool if the voice would do this :)

  3. Evi goes without problems. They have increased the capacity of their servers and are still continuing to do so, you can follow the True Knowledge blog for more information.

  4. I downloaded evi and voice an hour ago and they both work very well. I don't use Voku in the car, I installed it on the ipad and ipod touch 4 gen.
both applications work a little better on the ipad because the microphone is more visible.
they recognized my voice quite well and I am somewhat satisfied. I say somewhat because I have never used voice recognition programs other than voice recognition from Microsoft for. word.
the vokul is interesting "Fitness mode" where it recognizes the commands without saying "Vokul" first.
look on youtube, there are some interesting reviews of both applications.
