Starting with iOS 5.0.1 Apple has provided us with a new series of multitouch gestures for the iPad 2 tablet that allow users to open the task switcher, switch from one application to another and close an application using gestures with 3 /4/5 fingers. In BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 the company RIM implemented some new things including some gestures for multitasking and the video clip above makes a comparison between how users can use the multitasking systems of the two tablets.

On iPad 2 you already know how everything works and on BlackBerry Playbook 2.0 the multitasking system works in a way similar to the one in which the tweak works zephyr on iOS. A swype opens the multitasking bar in BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 and side swipes make the transition from one application to another, so if you have Zephyr installed on your tablet you will be able to do exactly the same things just as simply and easily. I don't think that Apple will simplify the gestures that are necessary to perform the same actions in iOS, but if you have a jailbreak, you can do it yourself.

Gestures aside, the multitasking system on the new Playbook OS simplifies user interaction with the operating system and provides much easier access to information, and Apple should learn something from this.
