Evi is a "personal assistant" for iDevices that tries to imitate Siri's functionality and bring a few more options, but unfortunately it doesn't manage to do much. Eva is available in the App Store for more than a month and Apple seems not to be too happy with its presence there. The company True Knowledge, the developer of the Evi application, claims that it was called by an Apple representative who informed them that the application will be withdrawn from the App Store because it is too similar to a product of the company and generates confusion.
I don't think it takes too much of a leap of the imagination to realize that 'confusingly similar' is code for 'competitive with' – and that all the user and press reviews along the lines of 'now you don't need to buy a 4S – you can download Evi', 'better than Siri' etc. have resulted in a change of heart from Apple about allowing its users to get the app.
Practically, the fact that over 200.000 people bought the application was a good enough reason for Apple to withdraw it from the App Store, even though it does not violate any rule regarding admissibility. Apple has a habit of taking such measures with applications it does not approve of and it seems that Evi will soon become history. If you have the application saved in iTunes, it would be good to save it in another folder because it will more than likely be removed from iCloud and you will not be able to reinstall it in the future. If you haven't bought Evi, you should do so, if you like, because the application will be withdrawn in the following days.
