Tutorial: Install Photoshop Touch on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S

Photoshop Touch running on iPhone 4S

Morning I told you that Adobe launched finally in the App Store Photoshop Touch, an application for the iPad 2 tablet that allows iDevice owners to edit photos using professional tools. The application can only be bought by those who have iPad 2 tablets and iOS 5 installed on them, so owners of iPad 1 tablets or iPhone terminals are forgotten. Well, things are not quite like that because a small change inside the Photoshop Touch application allows it to be installed on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and maybe even on the iPad tablet.

Below are the steps you must follow to install the application on iPhone 4S and the images in this article were taken on my terminal.

1. Buy the application from the App Store and in iTunes, right click on it and choose Show in Explorer/Show in Finder.

2. After opening the folder where the application is available, unarchive it using Winrar for Windows or The Unarchiver (or any other application) for Mac.

3. Navigate to PSTouch>Payload>PSTouch and right click on Show Package Contents if you are on Mac. On Windows, go to PSTouch>Payload>PSTouch.app.

4. Look for the Info.plist file, open it with a text editor and look for the entry:

UIDeviceFamily
2

 Which you will replace with:

UIDeviceFamily
1

5. Delete the application from iTunes, drag&drop the unzipped folder into the App section of iTunes and synchronize the application with your iPhone. After synchronization you will find it in Springboard ready to be opened.

Unfortunately on the iPhone you don't really have a way to use the application correctly because the screen is much too small, but on the iPad 1 tablet it should be easy to use.
