ETSI postpones vote on Nano SIM standard due to Apple, RIM, Nokia and Sandisk

I told you today that RIM and Nokia are unhappy by the efforts of those from Apple to rig the vote for choosing the technology used in the future for Nano SIM cards and because of their dissatisfaction with ETSI, the organization that would enforce the implementation of the standard, decided to postpone a voting session that was going to take place today. Practi today a vote was supposed to take place in an ETSI conference and the future of Nano SIM cards was supposed to be decided within it, but the refusal of those from Nokia to adopt the Apple standard, the refusal of Sandisk to support Nokia and the accusations of fraud led to a postponement of the vote.

The telecoms industry has ruptured on Thursday in Sofia-Antipolis. Convened within the Etsi, the European body responsible, globally, to vote on the future format of SIM card that will equip our phones, operators, handset makers and chip cards, and other industrial , failed to reach agreement and therefore did not vote. The meeting was stormy, and the vote should be postponed, according to reports, at least thirty days, as provided in the Regulation of ETSI.

The voting session will be held in the end, but it will take place in at least 30 days, during which the companies should reach an agreement, otherwise it is difficult to say what the result of the vote will be.
