The unfortunate story of a woman in China might help you all be a little more careful about what you leave on a cell phone when you sell it or take it in for repair. A woman from China took an iPhone to be repaired at a service that would be authorized by the Apple company, and the person who repaired the iPhone at that service managed to recover photos deleted by the woman from the phone and copied them to an iPhone terminal which is in the store display of that service. When she came to recover the terminal, the woman discovered that her pictures are public and everyone can see them, and from here a whole scandal started.
A young female customer from Ningbo city, northeast of Zhejiang province, sent her iPhone to an Apple franchise store for repairing. The naughty repairman has recovered all her deleted naked photos while fixing the phone. The repairman has made copies of those photos and loaded them onto a sample device which is displayed in the store. The young lady was shocked when she saw her naked photos on the iPhone display as she came back to pick up her own iPhone. The woman's boyfriend rushed to the store for explanation and alerted the police...
It is not yet known whether the photos were recovered from the iOS file system or with the help of an iCloud username/password that had not been deactivated, but it is clear that a careless person can expose his entire private life in front of employees a service and not only. Because we live in an imperfect world and because we live in Romania, there is no person who does not copy your data before giving you the device back, so it is good to be extremely careful with the data in your mobile terminals.
Theoretically, deleted data can be recovered from iDevices with the help of certain programs, but if you forget to delete your accounts and passwords from the terminals, then things are much simpler for malicious people.
