Americans are increasingly interested in buying an iPhone

Although it was believed that the popularity of iPhone terminals will not be as high after the end of the winter holidays and the demand will start to decrease, a study conducted recently by an American company seems to prove exactly the opposite. The company asked American buyers what they intend to buy in the next 3 months and Apple's iPhone seems to have been the first choice of many. The devices are now much more interesting than they were in December, but if the demand has remained as high, we will find out in less than 2 weeks when Apple will announce its Q2 2012 financial results.

And according to the bar chart above, it's blowing Apple's (AAPL) way. Despite growing competition and rumors that the company may be releasing a new model next fall, 56% of the respondents who plan to buy a smartphone in the next three months plan to buy an iPhone — up 2 percentage points from the last survey, taken at the height of the holiday shopping season.

That 56%, research director Paul Carton notes, is the second highest his firm — a division of 451 Research — has ever recorded — second only to a survey taken just before the iPhone 4S was launched last fall. (See chart below.)

If the interest vis-à-vis Apple products has increased, the same cannot be said for the interest shown in the products of other companies because Samsung stagnates compared to December, HTC is in the same situation, BlackBerry registered a very small increase and Motorola lost popularity. At Apple, interest has increased very little, but any such increase is good, especially in the case of BlackBerry. The study was conducted on 4.413 people from the USA and it proves that Apple is still the preferred company of those who want a smartphone.
