Mozilla blocks Java in Firefox for Mac

Java seems to be the weak link of OS X, but the good part is that this plugin is not part of the Apple operating system. The company from Cupertino once blocked a Java vulnerability that led to the infection of 600.000 Macs, but another threatens the owners of this type of computer and for now Mozilla made the decision to block the Java plugin in the famous Firefox browser. The measure is intended to slow down the increase in the number of infected Macs, but only those using Firefox will be safe from problems because Safari and Chrome do not yet have such security measures implemented.

Mozilla this week began blocking outdated versions of a Java plug-in in Firefox for some Mac users after calling the threat posed by the Flashback malware "obvious and imminent." The move came two weeks after Mozilla disabled unpatched versions of Oracle's software on Firefox for Windows. Although Mozilla said on April 2 that it might add the Java plug-in to Firefox for Mac's blocklist — a list it maintains of add-ons and plug-ins that the company disables because they're infected with malware or have been targeted by attackers — it didn't follow through until Monday.

The newly discovered Trojan infects users' Macs without their knowledge and provides full access to the operating system. Hackers can access the Mac and steal any kind of data from the system, so you have to be very careful which websites and word documents you open because the trojan was hidden and some documents of this kind.
