6 Greenpeace protesters blocked a train full of coal that was supposed to reach an energy plant used by Apple

A few weeks ago, those from Greenpeace declared that Apple pollutes the environment by using coal that powers an electricity plant that the company uses to keep the data center operating on the basis of which iCloud operates. Because Apple does not seem willing to give up the use of coal, 6 Greenpeace activists they blocked the railroad on which a train full of coal was running that had to reach the power plant in North Carolina, the power plant that the iCloud system needs to function.

Four protesters locked themselves to the train tracks near the Marshall Steam Station in Catawba County and two others hung a sign reading "Save Our Mountain Clean The Cloud." Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Charlotte Fire Department officials responded around 10:30 am Thursday.

Activists from Greenpeace, Keepers of the Mountains Foundation, Katuah Earth First! and Radical Action for Mountain People's Survival took part in the event. The protesters branded the train cars with the Apple logo to show that the company's Maiden data center will be powered by more coal as it expands.

Four of the protesters tied themselves, using a metal mechanism, to the railway on which the train was running and two more of them displayed a banner asking Apple to give up this energy source. The police came and arrested 7 people who set up the entire protest, but for Apple it is a much bigger problem because Greenpeace activists do not disappear so easily. Probably in the distant future, Apple will manage to build a power plant that will produce "clean" energy, but until then, it will have enough trouble from Greenpeace.
