iOS 6, the new Maps application and why you shouldn't get too excited

IERI (Yesterday) I heard that Apple will implement a new Maps application in iOS 6 and will give up Google Maps as far as the mapping system is concerned. The new Maps application would be based on technologies from the companies C3 and Placebase, both of which were acquired by Apple last year. Some say that the new Maps application will "set us back", others say that its new features are not that great and will not be used constantly by us. It seems that the 3D functionality that Apple intends to implement in its application would be similar to Google Street View, but somewhat better, but we all know that we will not use it constantly.

However, that system will not be the basis of the application, but the mapping system, and I am talking here about detailed maps, but probably not for everyone. Basically, Apple would replace the maps from Google Maps with those from its own systems, and here there could be very big problems for certain countries. Among them we include Romania, which did not receive much attention regarding the services offered by the company from Cupertino and there is a possibility that the new Maps application will not offer us much.

If Apple's map system does not cover Romania as well as Google Maps, then for us the change will not be that great and we will have to use alternative software from the App Store or the web version of Google Maps. It is not yet known what Apple has prepared for users, in terms of maps, but I hope that the new Maps application will cover Romania at least as well, including the 3D visualization of locations.

Until then, I recommend you not to have very high expectations from this application because you might be very disappointed.
