iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS could remain without an untethered jailbreak solution on iOS 5.1.1

Today Pod2G has given us some details about the untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1.1 that is about to be released. Shortly after publishing an article on his blog, he announced on Twitter that the solution is not compatible with the iPod Touch 3G and the iPhone 3GS could be in exactly the same situation. Pod2G has not yet tested the solution on the iPhone 3GS, but if what he said is confirmed, then on the iPhone 3GS you will not be able to untethered jailbreak using Pod2G's method.

On the iPhone 3GS you can still do a tethered jailbreak if you have an old bootrom and in this tutorial I explained how to find out which bootrom you have. Untethered jailbreak on old bootrom can be done even with redsn0w. Before you sell the phones, I recommend you wait because Pod2G might find a way to solve the problem using the SemiTethered jailbreak solution available in Cydia.
