In each fiscal quarter, Apple earns 550 million dollars from the sale of SmartCover covers

Apple is one of the largest manufacturers of mobile terminals and accessories, annually the company earns over 100 billion dollars from these products. However, mobile terminals are not the only devices from which Apple earns a lot of money, accessories occupying an important place in this hierarchy. In this idea we find out that the SmartCover case, launched especially for the iPad 2, generates no less than 550 million dollars in each fiscal quarter.

MAKER OF SHINY TOYS Apple makes $500m (£319m) each quarter from its Ipad covers, as the company moves away from focusing on hardware. That's according to Richard Kramer, managing director of Arete Research. Speaking at the Open Mobile Summit in London, Kramer said, "Apple is one of the first manufacturers to move its focus away from mobile hardware, as seen with the Ipad Smart Cover." "The majority of Ipad users own one of these flexible accessories, which brings Apple a $500m fortune each quarter," he added.

The number is of course an estimate because Apple does not provide exact details about the sales it makes, so it is not known how safe it is. Even so, it is clear that Apple sells a lot of such covers for its tablets and revenues will definitely increase in the coming years.
