What makes you update to the latest version of iOS?

Chitika, the famous company that analyzes how iDevice owners use the applications installed in their terminals, says that 83% of the iDevices available worldwide now have iOS 5.x installed. Of these, 58% are running iOS 5.1.1 (which has been available for about a month), 15.5% are running iOS 5.1, 8.52% are running iOS 5.0.1, 1.26% are running iOS 5.0, 15.46% are running iOS 4 and only 1.27% are running iOS 3 or earlier. Practically between 150-200 million iDevices run iOS 5.x and we are talking about an extremely high adoption rate, compared to Android OS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, or other operating systems.

Based on these statistics, it is evident that users of Apple mobile devices are, as a group, much quicker to upgrade their software when a new release touts new features, rather than security fixes, despite their importance. However, it seems that auto-update options and automated reminders on these devices are highly effective for those who wish to be as up-to-date as possible.

Those from Chitika say that the functions of the new iOS have convinced hundreds of millions of iDevice owners to install it and they are mostly right, considering that in iOS 5 Apple has implemented many extremely useful functions. In general, I update to a recent version of iOS only when there is a jailbreak solution available for it, except for important beta versions that I install out of curiosity. I don't usually update to an important version of iOS if the features don't convince me, but even if they are important I sometimes replace them with tweaks just to maintain the jailbreak.
