The new Safari in iOS 6 is up to 25% faster than Safari in iOS 5

Immediately after installing iOS 6 and loading a few web pages, I realized that Safari is much faster than on iOS 5, and I thought I'd do some tests to see how much performance has been improved. Browsermark and Sunspider 0.9.1 were my choices, and I compared the results with those of Anandtech which you can find them here. Practically in the case of BrowserMark, Safari from iOS 6 is 25% faster than Safari from iOS 5, and in the case of Sunspider 0.9.1 the difference is up to 20%. Maybe it seems a little, but we are talking about important changes that you feel when you load pages with a lot of content.

Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S III, the iPhone 4S is still far away in terms of performance in synthetic tests, but in a real-world comparison, I think the iPhone 4S could slightly beat the terminal from Samsung. The difference would be small, but for certain websites I think that the iPhone 4S could come out the winner and the score difference in these benchmarks does not reflect the difference in the loading speed of the web pages. Having said that, I expect that Safari from iOS 6 will be much improved until the official release and it will probably be the fastest browser for mobile terminals then.
