4 billion MB were transferred in one month of UEFA Euro 2012

  Orange was an official partner of UEFA EURO 2012 and in its capacity offered telecommunications solutions throughout the final tournament, but also contributed to the development the official application of the final tournament. Now, almost two weeks after the end of UEFA Euro 2012, the people from Orange offer some interesting statistics regarding the way things have evolved during this partnership. Orange got involved in this tournament by building the network for program transmissions, by developing the official UEFA EURO 2012 mobile applicationTM in partnership with UEFA and by organizing exciting online competitions on www.supporterscup.orange.com throughout the duration of the tournament, thus using its digital expertise to help football fans around the world support their favorite teams.

Orange contributed to the realization of UEFA EURO 2012TM as the exclusive telecommunications partner in Poland providing everything from in-stadium IT solutions to the networks benefited by UEFA's broadcast partners. Orange broadcast live every match broadcast throughout the duration of the EURO 2012 tournamentTM transferring a total of 4 billion MB of data from Poland and Ukraine at speeds of 130 GB per second, through a dedicated network with a length of 6,000 km.

The official UEFA EURO 2012 mobile appTM from Orange has been downloaded by more than 2,3 million fans in 11 European countries where Orange is present and was considered the number 1 sports app in France, Great Britain and Spain – more than 400,000 users being daily informed about everything it happens at the championship through the application.

The Supporters' Cup competition across Europe attracted 23,500 competitors who accessed the website nearly 800,000 times – with each user spending an average of seven minutes on the website at peak times. The winning teams received numerous prizes, including trips to the opening and final matches. The Untamed Lions team, made up of 11 Romanians - all students or graduates within ASE, won the first prize consisting of a VIP bus trip to the UEFA EURO 2012 finalTM and tickets to the match offered by Orange. To enter they made a 1 minute video about how they support their favorite team at this year's European Football Championship and proved they are very creative by winning the competition on www.supporterscup.orange.com in front of the other teams in Europe. Their clip http://www.supporterscup.orange.com/en_RO/contest/winners-first-european-prizes it was voted by a jury made up of Orange officials, UEFA and footballer Didier Drogba, and earned them the much-dreamed-of trip to Kiev.
