How much protection do iDevices need to survive?

When I bought my first iPhone, I managed to seriously scratch the screen just two days after I got it. The scratch was deep and right in the middle of the screen, and from that moment I became obsessed with protecting it so as not to affect it in other ways. A few months later, I bought a new iPhone 3GS that I "armored" with InvisibleSHIELD, and the following year I bought an iPhone 4 on which I had several models of foils. Just a few months after purchasing the iPhone 4 terminal, I completely gave up the protective foils and I still don't regret the decision.

Over time, I noticed that any film, no matter how thin it is and what the manufacturer says, affects the quality of the images displayed by the screen after you place it on top of it, and giving up screen protection films was, from my point of view view, a good decision. Even if there is always the possibility of dropping the iPhone and cracking the screen, the idea of giving up the Retina screen and the quality of its images makes me change my mind every time I try to stick a foil.

Of course, I tried to protect the iPhones, they were scratched both on the screen and on the case, but the scratches are superficial and do not affect the quality of the images or my psyche in any way. How do you protect your iDevices? Is it worth giving up such a vivid screen for protection?
