Apple will be the only company that will sell adapters for the new 8/9 pin dock, they will cost $10 each

For several weeks it has been speculated that Apple will sell adapters that will allow users to use with the new 8/9 pin dock accessories that have 30 pin USB ports. Not much was known about these adapters until today we find out that they will cost $10 each and will be sold exclusively by Apple. Basically, Apple will monopolize their sale, it will be able to set any price it wants, and all adapters of this type that will initially come out on the market will most likely be counterfeit.

...additional sources have confirmed to iLounge that Apple will be the exclusive initial vendor of a new Dock Connector Adapter, to be sold individually and/or in three-packs. According to sources, the Dock Connector Adapters will sell for approximately $10 each or three for $29, with Apple-branded new USB cables selling for $19 each. For reference, Apple's MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter sells for $9.99, while international pricing for Apple's earlier iPhone Micro USB Adapter is €9 ($11) or £8 ($13).

Along with these adapters, new cables specially designed for the new 8/9 pin dock will be sold, these will cost $19 each. Accessory manufacturers have not received information from Apple about the new docks, so it is clear that for the beginning accessories of this kind will be sold exclusively through Apple Stores and resellers of Apple products. Of course, there will be a cable of this kind in the iPhone 5 box, so you won't have to buy another one unless you break the original one.
