Apple's new security measures could leave you without an Apple ID if you've forgotten your password

A few weeks ago the account of the publisher of several online publications was stolen by a hacker who used data available on the Internet to assume the publisher's identity and convince Apple to reset his password. He deleted everything in the publisher's accounts, and from here started a huge scandal after which Apple has blocked the password recovery system for Apple IDs si introduced new security measures. These new security measures involve setting two answers for some questions displayed when creating the Apple ID, entering more information about the user's credit card, and finally Apple uses the identification data of the terminal to complete the process.

I know what you are thinking. The rightful person who owns the Apple ID should have no problem doing enough of that to be able to verify their ID and be able to then reset their password or security questions or unlock their account. And you would be wrong in thinking that.

As a result of the replacement of these security measures, company employees now have a less important role in solving users' problems, they only have the possibility to reset passwords and resend them to the emails attached to the accounts. Before these measures were implemented, employees could set temporary passwords and send users' passwords to third-party email addresses, but this is no longer possible. Changes implemented by Apple they generated and a significant increase in the number of phone calls received by employees in connection with forgotten passwords for Apple IDs, iPhone 5 and iOS 6 being the main reasons why users realized that they forgot their passwords and identification methods.

In the last few days, Apple's support service has received 10 times more calls than normal, most of them coming from users who don't remember the identification data of their Apple IDs, and the problem is that if you don't remember them, Apple leaves you without an account. Without the answers to the security questions, without an active Find My iPhone/iPad and without a credit card attached to the account, a user's chances of recovering an Apple ID are reduced to zero, and Apple employees cannot help him. Unfortunately, Apple defends itself against social hacking attempts by implementing measures that are not beneficial for users, and in the end we are the ones who lose the most.

In conclusion, try to remember all the details you use for Apple IDs, otherwise you will be left without an account, especially since in Romania the support is limited.
