Two weeks ago I told you that Apple would have ordered carbon fiber components for an as yet unknown product, but it seems that those components are intended for a project that Apple has been developing for 3 years with another company. The purpose of this project would be to develop a new method of weaving carbon fiber used in the components of electronic products and more. Apple found a problem with the way the current carbon fiber components are produced and wants to change the way they are manufactured, the 3-year partnership being kept secret until now.
Apple has been conducting carbon fiber research since 3 years ago. I reported that Apple ordered some – huge number of – samples of carbon fiber products for a Japanese company, and now I tell that the research division of this company has been co-operated with Apple for at least 3 years. Apple seems to be desired carbon fiber product made with completely different woven fiber from usual products.
No one knows what benefits the technology developed by Apple could bring, but I assume that the partnership aims to give those from Apple the opportunity to improve their own products and gain notoriety on the marketing side. For years it has been rumored that Apple is going to implement carbon fiber components in iDevices or Macs, so far the rumors have not come true, but they were based on something true and we will probably see something like this in the future in Apple products.
