The applications that monitor and reduce the data traffic consumed by you, also significantly reduce the speed of Internet browsing

This week I presented the application Onavo Count and I told you that through it you can find out what data traffic your applications make every month. The problem with this application, and others like it, is that all your internet traffic is transferred through the developers' servers, and this is where the inconveniences appear. Basically, when you access any link on the Internet, iOS redirects the Internet traffic through the Onavo servers, which becomes an intermediary and slows everything down.

To give you a simple example, if before I installed the application and used it, I had an average response time of 40-50 ms on almost any website, after installing the application the response times increased almost 10 times. The increase in the response time was also accompanied by a reduction of a few Mbps in the internet browsing speed, and for me the idea of knowing what internet traffic the applications are doing is not primary to the internet browsing speed.

Unfortunately, other similar applications work roughly the same and the worst part is that after uninstalling the application, your traffic is still redirected to the servers. Onavo Count has installed a profit in iOS that redirects the traffic and you have to delete it, and then reset the network settings to finally have the previous internet connection. In general, it is important to choose what matters more, the internet browsing speed or the idea of knowing how much internet traffic your applications consume.
