Could the iPhone Mini be launched on the market in 2013?

Almost 2 years ago, some interesting rumors appeared that made the launch certain iPhone Mini as a cheap iPhone for consumers, but in the end Apple chose to reduce the price of the 3GS and keep it on sale. Those rumors revin this year, American analysts again discussing the possible launch of iPhone Mini in 2013 or maybe even 2014. The new device would come as a response from Apple to the continuous growth of the Samsung company, the Koreans going to have an increase of over 35% in the field of smartphone sales.

SEOUL (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is expected to widen its lead over Apple Inc in global smartphone sales this year with 35 percent growth, helped by a broad product lineup, market researcher Strategy Analytics told Reuters on Friday. Apple, returning the offensive, could roll out a smaller, cheaper "iPhone Mini" next year to grab market share by targeting demand from users of lower-end smartphones, Strategy Analytics said.

To be honest, I don't really understand why American analysts are struggling to spread such rumors, especially when Apple already has a very attractive offer on the market regarding iPhones. It is extremely hard to believe that Apple will include a new iPhone model in the existing line, but this will not stop the "analysts" from discovering "sources" that support their claims.
