CES 2013: Apple wins an Emmy in the Technology & Engineering section

Although Apple is not present at CES 2013, company won an Emmy for Technology & Engineering, the Emmy awards for technology being awarded for over 6 decades for several specific categories. Apple won the award this year thanks most likely to iTunes/iCloud, more precisely to the live streaming service that Apple built. The award is given by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for important achievements in the technological field.

Apple is being given an award for an "Eco-system for Real Time Presentation of TV Content to Mobile Devices without the use of Specialized Television Hardware." It's not quite clear what that is, but it sounds a lot like the company's cloud infrastructure. According to the organization, "awards are presented to an individual, company, or to a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies which either represent an extensive improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television."
