The other day I told you that Seas0npass has been updated and can help you do it untethered jailbreak for Apple TV 2G on iOS 5.2/6.1, and now I present you a jailbreak tutorial. Unfortunately, some applications for Apple TV are not compatible with the new version of iOS, and the Apple TV 3 cannot be jailbroken using this program, so the tutorial is only for those who have the old models. Following the instructions below, you will jailbreak, but you will have to install the third-party applications separately.
Step 1
- Download iOS 5.2 available here.
- Download Seas0nPass here: Windows, Mac.
- Download the latest version of iTunes available here.
Step 2
Open the Seas0nPass application on your computer and press the Create IPSW button. At this moment the program will download the latest version of iOS 5.2 for Apple TV 2G and make a custom ipsw.
Step 3
When the program asks you to do so, connect the Apple TV to the computer using a micro USB cable, but do not connect it to a power source. When the Apple TV light starts flashing, point the remote control at it, simultaneously press the Home + Menu buttons and keep them pressed for 7 seconds.
Step 4
After the device enters DFU Mode, iTunes will open and automatically start installing the custom ipsw you made with Seas0nPass. After installation, connect the Apple TV to a power source and to the TV, and everything should work normally.
After the ipsw has been installed, iTunes will confirm this and in the Apple TV interface the Settings icon will be displayed as you can see in the image below.
Considering that we are talking about an untethered jailbreak, you do NOT have to turn on the Apple TV every time using the computer, and you can install the applications you want.
