In Romania there are 4 large mobile phone operators, and several smaller ones, each of them having offers made in such a way that they do not fully cover the needs of each customer. Orange took a step forward by launching don't limit yourself.ro and offering customers the possibility to configure their own prepay options, but their idea was not taken over by the other big players. In general, users choose the mobile phone network depending on their family/friends, the offers matter to a certain extent, but if everyone close to you is in Orange, you will not use Vodafone or Cosmote.
Even if a choice of this kind is based on closeness, the type of offers matters, and in general they are made to partially cover the needs and to force the users either to give up some requirements or to pay more for a surplus. The impossibility of making an offer for a subscription at will is a problem that no one can solve, although a solution like not limiting yourself would be extremely welcome. Having said that, I'm curious how many of you are happy with the subscription/prepay options you have.
