Apple was fined in France for forcing employees to work overtime

During today's day a French court he fined the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), with €10.000 because he forced his employees to work night shifts in his stores and forbade him to apply such practices again. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), she will be fined another €50.000 for each similar action, but everything must be proven. The French employee associations claim that a company can ask employees to work overtime during the night if there is a solid economic motivation, or if it is a public service, which has nothing to do with what was required in Apple stores.

In practice, Apple stores close at 9 p.m., but the employees were obliged to spend another two hours in the store to clean the location, everything being mandatory, although legally no one can ask the employees to do this. Apple appealed the decision and a higher court will give a final decision on April 16, but until then Apple stores in France should respect the rights of employees, even if in the end everything is done for the benefit of consumers.
