John Appleseed - the mysterious contact from the Apple presentations

  If you have followed some of Apple's presentations, then you must have noticed that during a demonstration for the Phone application, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), almost always used a named contact John appleseed. Many have wondered why Apple uses this name, and there is a story behind it. John appleseed is the name attributed to John Chapman, the man who planted the first apple seeds in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. The same name was used by the second CEO of Apple, Mike Markkula, when he published programs for the Apple II.
