Apple patents the system for deleting and moving applications from iOS

In iOS the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has implemented a system that allows users to move or delete applications, it being easy to recognize because at the moment of activation it generates a vibration effect for all Springboard applications. The entire system is now patented by Apple, which is trying to protect it against competitors who would be tempted to compile it in its entirety. Apart from this system for handling applications from iDevices, those from Apple also patent the system for generating folders from iOS, a technology implemented only a few years ago by the company.

For example, using a sequence of inputs to create, modify and/or delete folders and content within folders is tedious and creates a significant cognitive burden on a user. In addition, existing methods take longer than necessary, thereby wasting energy. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 5B, the selectable user interface objects jiggle as though they are floating on water (eg, each respective selectable user interface object oscillates about a respective average position of the selectable user interface object on the display).

These systems simplify user interaction with iDevices and the rationale behind their patenting is based on actions like those of Samsung. Steve Jobs started the process of patenting Apple technologies after Microsoft managed to use before Apple some important technologies related to operating systems for desktops, the process being continued under the command of Tim Cook.
