Facebook hires the man who led the team developing Apple Maps and certain functions of Siri

In recent months, Facebook has hired many talented people from Apple, attracting them with better salaries and more benefits, and if you read this article you will understand why these things were attractive. Among those people include and Richard Williamson, the head of the team that develops Apple Maps, he also works with the team that develops certain functions of Siri. Williamson was fired by Apple after the failure Apple Maps, but it is unlikely that it is his fault, considering that Apple rushed the project and forced it to launch when it was not ready.

Williamson joined Facebook in the past couple of weeks to be a manager within its expanding mobile-software group, said two of the people, who declined to be identified because the information isn't public.

Williamson's role within Facebook is currently unclear, he would be one of the managers contributing to the development of software for mobile platforms, but everything is limited here. At Facebook, there are already enough Apple employees, most probably quite a few will leave in the coming years, and Apple has a big problem in keeping close people who are really talented. Of course, a company like Apple can hire anyone else at any time, but these losses will be felt sooner or later.
