The other day I told you that the system Google Now from Google affects the autonomy of our iDevices and we have explained a simple method by which you can solve the problem. Given that the Internet was quickly filled with people accusing Google of launching an application on the market that significantly reduces battery life using location services, the American company he answered to these accusations, saying that their system works correctly, without affecting autonomy.
Reports that Google Now drains battery life are incorrect. We understand people's concern about seeing the Location Services icon stay on when they use Google Now. Many apps that keep the icon on actually drain the phone's battery because they require very accurate location. (For example a navigation app has to run your GPS all the time to keep you from missing your turn.)
Normally applications for iDevices constantly use GPS to provide location information, but Google Now works in a different way. Those from Google claim that Google Now they interrogate cell towers and Wi-Fi HotSpots to provide geo-located information, and this should not affect battery life. Unfortunately, the constant checking process requires additional energy and even if the GPS is not used, the autonomy is affected anyway.
We extensively tested Google Now on iOS for months and didn't see reports of significant battery impact — we would encourage you to try it in the Google Search app for a few days and we don't expect you to see significant impact on your battery .
