Apple hires 12 former AMD engineers

  Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), he buys new companies and hires a lot of people, and recently no less than 12 former engineers AMD entered among the employees of the American company. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), he is building a team called Orlando GPU Team and for it he hired 12 people who were fired by AMD last months. Engineers have extensive experience in developing graphics chips and software for them, and Apple probably wants to produce its own hardware for iDevice/Macs, so teams like this are extremely important.

Job Summary

Manager will be responsible for leading the Orlando GPU team to deliver high quality IP to specification and on schedule.

Key Qualifications

– 10+ years of proven experience leading high performance GFX (or equivalent complexity) IP development teams
– 5+ years proven experience building/hiring medium/large (30+) complex ASIC IP development teams
- Excellent personnel management, mentoring, team building and hiring abilities
– Proven ability to manage parallel project efforts including effective resource/schedule planning & tracking
- Excellent written/verbal communication and project management skills
– Experience with GFX Architecture/Design, GFX APIs and overall GFX development is a significant plus
- Ability to work well in a cross-site team and be productive under aggressive schedules

  Apple currently only designs custom chips for iDevices, but the company would like to produce its own processors and graphics chips for both iDevices and Macs, but it does not have the right technologies. Using the expertise of employees of companies such as AMD or Intel, Apple could develop its own hardware in the future, but no one knows for now how far the development process has reached and what we should expect.
