Facebook is developing a competitor to Flipboard, an alternative to Google Reader

In the Facebook a former iOS interface designer for iPhone and iPad has been working for more than a year to the development of a competitor for Flipboard and an alternative for Google Reader. Those from Facebook intends to offer the users of the social network the possibility to quickly and easily view the new news from the websites they follow, but for now it is not known exactly in what way. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg closely supervises the project and the interesting part is that it would be available only on the iOS platform, at least initially.

The product, which Facebook employees refer to as "Reader," sounds like a Flipboard competitor. Flipboard is a social news reader for tablets that has more than 50 million users. Facebook's Reader will "display content from Facebook users and publishers in a new visual format tailored for mobile devices," Rusli's sources say. She's not sure when or if Reader will actually launch though. Reader's team is being led by Facebook designer Michael Matas, formerly of smart hardware startup Nest and Apple.]

Through this service, those from Facebook intend to offer us the opportunity to view the information from the reader directly in the feed, presenting the most important of them in the foreground, the rest being available in a special section. It is not yet known exactly how everything would work and in what way we should benefit from the service, but it is clear that it is in the works.
