Awaited for months by iPhone owners, iPhone 5S was officially presented this evening by the Apple company. The new device comes in new colors, gold and silver being included by Apple in its offer. To begin with, I will tell you that the iPhone 5S will be available in the classic black color, but also in a golden color, but also in a silver color, the latter being available only for the terminal with a white front panel. You read in the rumors that Apple is going to offer these colors, and now everything turns out to be true.

Chip A7 – processor, 64 bits and a lot of graphics power

Apple implemented in the iPhone 5S an A7 chip compatible with 64-bit architecture, the new smartphone being the first in the world with such compatibility. According to those from Apple, the new chip is over 40 times faster than the chip implemented in the first iPhone and 2 times faster than the one implemented in iPhone 5. Although the numbers presented by Apple are pompous, in reality we are talking about an increase in performance of 15% - 30% compared to the iPhone 5, but the worst part is that for now few applications are compatible with the 64-bit architecture.

The native applications of iOS 7 were remade to work on the 64-bit structure, the kernel, libraries and drivers had the same transformation, but the operating system is also compatible with the 32-bit structure. The A7 chip in the iPhone On the software side, and in the case of the graphics chip, we are talking about a 56x increase, the new chip being compatible with the OpenGLES 3.0 standard, so we will have much more complex games. In practice, the iPhone 5S could process up to 2 times more data on the new architecture, but this only if the developers will make their applications compatible with it, otherwise we will benefit from all these improvements only in the native applications. The good part is that as soon as the applications will be compatible with this architecture, users will be able to work faster on the terminals, and in games and utility applications you will feel the difference best. Practically, the more complex the user's way of working, the better the difference in performance will be seen, but it remains to be seen how many months will pass before the developers will think of updating their applications.

Apart from the new A7 chip, the Apple company has implemented in the iPhone 5S and M7, a co-processor for motion detection. This new co-processor constantly monitors the data received from the gyroscope, compass or accelerometer and allows the development of new types of fitness applications or for monitoring vital functions. The new chip knows if users are sitting still, moving or driving a car, and through applications, it extends the functionality of an iPhone.

Autonomy

If you're wondering how the iPhone 5S does with autonomy, well Apple promises 250 hours of standby time, that is 10 hours of talking on the phone via 3G, 10 hours of browsing the Internet via LTE, 8 hours of browsing via a 3G network and 10 hours of browsing using a Wi-Fi network. It is rumored that Apple would have implemented a battery that is only 200 mAh better than in the iPhone 5, but this "small" change seems to be enough to substantially increase the autonomy, the processor changes helping just as much.

Camera

Apple mentioned that the new camera from iPhone 5S it's capable of taking great pictures thanks to the new image sensor capable of rendering more pixels, and the pictures below should prove it. The new iSight camera has an f/2.2 aperture, a larger image sensor with 1.5u pixels capable of recording much better pictures in low light conditions, it has a 15% larger active area, it has dual LED flash helping in - a very large measure. Thanks to the A7 chip, the Camera application performs auto-focus 2 times faster than in the iPhone 5, records photos faster and does much better stabilization for images and videos.

The all-new 8 megapixel iSight camera features a larger f/2.2 aperture and a new, larger sensor with 1.5μ pixels for better sensitivity and low-light performance, resulting in better pictures. These improvements, along with the Apple-designed image signal processor in the A7 chip and the new Camera app in iOS 7, provide up to two-times faster auto-focus, faster photo capture, automatic image and video stabilization, and better dynamic range . iPhone 5s introduces the new True Tone flash—the world's first for any camera—that variably adjusts color and intensity for over 1,000 combinations, so photos taken with a flash appear more natural. iPhone 5s also includes a new Burst Mode, Slo-Mo video with 120 fps, a new FaceTime HD camera for better low-light performance and audio-only FaceTime calls with iOS 7.

One of the important changes of the camera is the implementation of the True Tone flash, i.e. a multicolored LED flash, the first in the world, which variably adjusts its color and intensity in over 1000 combinations to allow the recording of photos as natural as possible. The Camera application of the iPhone 5S includes a burst mode that allows the recording of up to 9 photos in an extremely fast sequence, but also a function that allows us to record slow motion videos with up to 120 frames per second.

The Camera in Burst Mode application allows you to record several photos, combine them and select the best photo for presentation to friends, but the improvements do not stop there, because Apple has also improved the front camera, allowing FaceTime calls to be made in much better conditions then when the light in the room is not great. Having said that, I'll let you view some images that Apple says were recorded using the iPhone 5S camera.

Fingerprint reader – Touch ID

I told you for so many months that iPhone 5S it will have a fingerprint reader, well it was officially presented today and it is called touch ID. The fingerprint reader is implemented directly in the Home button of the terminal, it being capacitive, capable of recording fingerprints at an angle of 360 degrees. Our fingerprints will be used to unlock the terminals and to allow the purchase/download of applications or other content available in the App Store or iTunes Store, so you can forget about passwords for a while.

You check your iPhone dozens and dozens of times a day, probably more. Entering a passcode each time just slows you down. But you do it because making sure no one else has access to your iPhone is important. With iPhone 5s, getting into your phone is faster, easier, and even a little futuristic. Introducing Touch ID — a new fingerprint identity sensor.

Touch ID can be used in any orientation by users, reading the fingerprints immediately and storing them only in the terminal, without synchronizing them with iCloud or another cloud system. The ring that now surrounds the Touch ID is made of stainless steel and has the role of activating the fingerprint reader by touching it, so without touching it you will not be able to use the fingerprint reader. Practically, this component of the iPhone 5S has the role of simplifying the interaction with the terminal and is probably a test made for a future implementation of mobile payments.

Now finally comes the interesting moment, the iPhone 5S will be available at the same prices as the iPhone 5, but the launch will take place on September 20 in 10 countries, without a prior pre-order session. If you are interested in the prices, well the iPhone 5C has a starting price of €599, while the iPhone 5S has a starting price of €700. Unfortunately, Apple has not announced the date when the second wave of releases will take place, so we will not know when it will arrive in Romania.

iPhone 5C

After months of speculation, this evening the Apple company finally presented the terminal iPhone 5C, which will have a plastic casing and will be colored. Blue, white, pink, yellow and green are the colors chosen by Apple for the plastic case of the terminal, it will be available only in 16/32 GB versions at low prices, with 2-year subscriptions. The terminal will contain the iPhone 5 hardware, i.e. a 4-inch screen, the same A6 chip, 4G LTE compatibility with almost all networks around the globe, the 8 megapixel iSight camera, a new FaceTime HD camera with 1.9u pixels, compatibility with 5 GHz networks, Bluetooth 4.0 and that's it.

Separately from the iPhone, Apple also launches a series of cases for the terminal, these having a rather strange design, they being, of course, made of rubber. The cases are going to be available at the price of $30 each, and have the role of protecting the terminal, although it has an internal metal aluminum structure that also acts as an antenna. In essence, the iPhone 5C is an iPhone 5 with a plastic case, exactly as I told you, with some minor improvements inside and nothing more.

iPhone 5C will be released on September 20, just like iPhone 5S, in the same countries, and on September 13 the pre-order session will be initiated.
