Google Maps has lost tens of millions of iPhone owners to Apple Maps

launching iOS 6 marked a major change for iDevice owners, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), eliminating native applications Google Maps si YouTube. If in case YouTube those of the Google they didn't lose that many users, if at all Google Maps problem it's different and much, much more complicated. According to data provided by ComScore, Google Maps lost several tens of millions of iPhone owners after its launch Apple Maps, preferring to use Apple's service. More precisely, the number of iOS users of Google Maps would have decreased by up to 23 million, at the moment 35 million owners of iDevices use Apple Maps, while only 6 million access Google Maps.

The latest comScore Mobile Metrix ranking of the top mobile apps by audience shows that Facebook finished the year strong to capture the #1 position from Google Maps. Of course Apple's decision to replace Google Maps with Apple Maps on iOS 6 also caused a decline in Google Maps usage in October, which is largely responsible for the position swap. Meanwhile, Google Maps has been clawing its way back the past few months after getting reinstated on iOS 6, so look for the competition for the #1 spot to heat up as we head into 2013.

Of the 6 million active users of Google Maps, 2 million use old versions of iOS that do not allow access to Apple Maps, so basically Google only has 4 million voluntary users of Google Maps. These figures are only valid for the USA and although there is no information for other locations around the world, there is a possibility that there the difference is not that big. Those from Apple focused their efforts to develop Apple Maps only for the US and it seems that they were successful, but in the rest of the world, especially in countries less important for those from Cupertino, Google Maps gets more attention from among the world.
