Apple is developing a system that would intelligently generate local playlists with any kind of multimedia content

After iTunes Radio and virtual radio stations designed by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for its users, the company takes things a step further, developing a system that allows the generation of a similar type of multimedia posts. More exactly, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), he imagines that he can design a system that would sort all the multimedia content available in our iDevices, and not only, and would be able to generate personalized playlists with it. More precisely, the playlists would contain music or video clips, the system automatically choosing what it should play for us.

The media player may automatically tune to one of the sources based on user preferences or criteria to output the currently playing content. The media player may tune to a source or switch from one source to another source based on a user's tastes for music, a given volume level, an aversion to talk radio, or other user preferences or criteria. The media player may also queue or schedule upcoming content on a given source for playback to the user.

The system would automatically analyze what we listen to or view on our own devices and would learn based on this experience to be able to make the right choices in order to provide the right multimedia content. The interesting part is that not only the local content will be chosen for playback, the system running including online audio/video streams, the choice of the type of content played for us is most likely based on an analysis of how the terminal is used, so that a video clip not to be played when our iDevice has the screen closed, for example.

Considering that the system was sent for patenting in 2008, it remains to be seen if after 6 years Apple will still consider its implementation in iOS 8, for example, but anything is possible.
