Based on the general confusion caused by the partial information appearing in the media in recent days, I am writing this article to explain to you, as simply as possible, how the system works Find My iPhone and in what situations is it useful for you. That being said:
- Find My iPhone works ONLY on the basis of an Apple ID, i.e. a user account registered on the Apple website, which you also use to download applications, music or movies;
- Find My iPhone ONLY works through the iCloud system, this requires logging in with your Apple ID on the website iCloud.com, but also in your terminal in the Settings application, in the iCloud menu. There you will find the Find My iPhone option that you must activate together with GPS activation;
- Find My iPhone ONLY works based on an internet connection, the presence of GPS in the terminal does NOT allow its location and does NOT allow deleting data, blocking or sending messages if you do not have an active internet connection;
- Find My iPhone CANNOT locate a terminal if its GPS has been turned off, even if there is an active Internet connection;
- Locating through Find My iPhone can ONLY be done using the Find My iPhone application from the App Store or the iCloud.com website and ONLY if you are logged in with the Apple ID on which the iDevice is activated. You can NOT locate between Apple IDs for terminals that are not activated in that Apple ID.
Practically Find My iPhone it is a service that works ONLY if the user activates it on their own terminals and ONLY through an internet connection/an active GPS, in other situations it is useless. Apple products are NOT delivered with Find My iPhone active and the system CANNOT be activated after the loss/theft of a product, BUT in situations of need you can activate it at any time based on an Apple ID and an Internet connection.
