Future iPhones could allow the SIM to be ejected using just one button

All iPhone/iPadThe 3G/4G released so far contain a SIM tray which allows the insertion of a mobile phone operator's card to connect to the Internet. All these drawers SIMs. are extracted using a key provided by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), together with the devices, the key having to be inserted into a slot positioned on one side of the SIM. This procedure could be forgotten in the future, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), patenting a system that allows removing the SIM drawer using only one button available in iOS.

With the option to eject the SIM card tray via a touch screen virtual button, a thief won't be able to open the SIM card tray as in the past. They'd have to be able to crack Touch ID in order to be able to access the SIM card ejection system. As SIM cards in the future may carry a bank credit and/or debit card, this is going to be a very important feature in the not-too-distant future.

The new system would prevent a thief from extracting the SIM card of our device without having access to the operating system, but of course the whole procedure would simplify the process of changing a SIM card when users need it. Considering that we are only talking about a patent, it is not known if this system will ever reach our iDevices, but with Apple anything is possible.
