The new senior vice president of Apple, Angela Ahrendts, has been named a dame of the British Empire

Angela Ahrendts is the former CEO of the famous company Burberry, and starting this month she will become senior vice president who will lead the company's retail division Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. Until then, Ahrendts was named Lady of the British Empire, a distinction as important as that given to Jony Ive, who was named Sir of the British Empire more than a year ago. Unlike that distinction, in the case of Angela Ahrendts the Queen of Great Britain will not attend the ceremony, in fact only a lower level member of the government will attend, so we are not talking about the awarding of the title with great pomp.

Mr Cable will pay tribute to the mother of three, from Indiana, describing her as a 'landmark figure in business' and a 'powerful role model to the next generation of young British talent.' He will say: 'She has revitalized this iconic British brand with flair and cutting edge innovation, allied with sound commercial acumen.'

Regarding the assumption of the new position within Apple, the American company announced that Ahrendts will join the team starting this spring, the month of April being the first with her in charge of the retail division.
