Samsung will attack the decision by which Apple will receive 119 million dollars in damages following the lawsuit won in the USA

I told you last evening that the jury of the trial between Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), si Samsung decided that Samsung must pay 119 million dollars to the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for infringing technologies protected by patents. Although the lawyer from Samsung stated that he is satisfied with the verdict by which Apple is awarded compensation of only 5.5% of the amount initially requested from the court, he will still appeal his decision. The lawyer from Samsung claims that the verdict given by the jurors is not supported by the evidence, so he will challenge it in the US courts.

Of course we're pleased that the jury awarded Apple 6 percent of what they were asking for. But even that can't stand, because Apple kept out all the real world evidence and didn't produce anything to substitute for it, so you have a verdict that's unsupported by evidence — and that's just one of its problems.

The decision to appeal against the court's decision is a logical one and it could reduce the amount that Apple would receive from the Koreans. In 2011, in a similar process, Apple won a little over 1 billion dollars in damages from Samsung, but after a legal process to appeal the decision, Apple will receive a little over 900 million dollars from the Korean company. In the process completed yesterday, we are not talking about such a large amount, but Samsung could still obtain a reduction of up to 20 million dollars of the final amount to be paid to Apple.
