Vodafone, the second operator on the local telecom market is preparing to make an extremely interesting move in our country, a move that will cost it up to 1.5 billion euros. According to the journalist Robert Turcescu, Vodafone would prepare to acquire the cable and mobile divisions of RCS-RDS, i.e. DigiTe + DigiMobil + DigiTV, all in a transaction that could be worth between 1 billion and 1.5 billion euros. RCS-RDS is the largest cable operator from our country and the sale to Vodafone would be a strong blow for Orange, which for almost a year has been trying to build a customer base for Orange-TV.

An information that I am publishing here EXCLUSIVELY and that will cause major changes on the telecommunications market in Romania, but also in the region: Vodafone is one step away from acquiring cable distribution, plus telephone and data operations from RCS-RDS! A preliminary contract was signed between the two companies, and the final transaction revolves around the sum of 1-1,5 billion euros. Vodafone thus becomes the biggest player on the telecom market in the region, giving a strong blow to the main competitor, Orange.

According to the same source, Vodafone and RCS-RDS would have already concluded a pre-contract for the purchase, a sign that everything now depends on an approval from the Vodafone "mother" company. Rumors have been circulating for several weeks according to which those from Vodafone would receive shares based on offering DigiMobil customers access to its national mobile telephony network, but it seems that everything has a much higher stake. If the acquisition will be confirmed, we will find out in the following weeks, but it is clear that between the two companies we will see a much more extensive collaboration in the future, regardless of what nature it will be.

UPDATED: RCS-RDS denied the rumours regarding a possible sale to Vodafone.
