DermoScreen – the application that could detect skin cancer better than a doctor

DermoScreen is an application developed for some time for our terminals iPhone, it being thought especially for those who want it to be tested for the possible presence of skin cancer, specifically a very serious form called melanoma. The application has an accuracy rate of 85%, it being similar to that of dermatologists and much more accurate than an investigation made by a primary care physician. The application is developed by a professor of the University of Houston, it requires the use of a dermatoscope worth $500.

As you can see in the image above, this device is attached to the iPhone's camera which records a picture of the area where there is suspicion regarding the presence of cancer, the application then analyzes the image to determine the presence or absence of the disease. The results are provided in just a few seconds from the start of the analysis and although the application is currently only available in the beta stage, it is ready to be offered to doctors throughout the US and beyond.
