Dropbox has not been hacked. These usernames and passwords were unfortunately stolen from other services and used in attempts to log in to Dropbox accounts. We'd previously detected these attacks and the vast majority of the passwords posted have been expired for some time now. All other remaining passwords have expired as well.
Those from dropbox I claim that a third-party service that connects to its servers was broken by hackers and that the account passwords were stolen would have been
already disabled, along with many others that are not secure enough. Considering that the hackers did not publish the complete database with the stolen passwords, it remains to be seen who is right in this situation, but probably the problem is not as serious as it seems at first glance. In these conditions, it is good to change your Dropbox account password if you have connected the service to third-party applications, because there is a possibility that your username is among those affected.
