Tutorial: iOS 8.1 – how to send SMS from Mac

  The release of iOS 8.1 brought to owners of iPad terminals or Macs with OS X Yosemite the possibility to send SMS directly from these Apple products using an iPhone terminal without much effort. The entire procedure requires you to be logged in to all iDevices with the same Apple ID, Apple account, this being mandatory because otherwise the interconnection between the company's terminals is impossible for sending messages using an iPhone terminal.

iOS 8.1 send SMS from Mac

  1. Make sure that both the iPhone terminal and the Mac with OS X Yosemite have enabled Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, then open the Messages application on the Mac.
  2. On Mac navigate to Settings > Messages and enable the option Text Message Forwarding.
  3. On iPhone navigate to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, Settings > Messages > Message forwarding or and you should see your Mac with the option to enable texting.
  4. Turn on the option to send SMS messages for your Mac, and then on your Mac you will see a window with a security code that must be entered on your iPhone.
  5. After you enter that code in your iPhone terminal, the two terminals will be interconnected and you will be able to send SMS messages directly from your Mac.

  After connecting the two devices, you will be able to use the Messages application in your Mac to send SMS messages using your iPhone terminal, and if you do not have the security code displayed after the first activation, then it will be necessary to use an email address for iMessage in order to to send or receive messages.
