Uber comes to Romania, accepts applications for the first 100 "taxi drivers"

Uber is coming to Romania and I told you this a few weeks ago, but today we learn that for some time the American company started to register requests from the first 100 people willing to become "taxi drivers" in the future service. One special page enrollment available for the city Bucureşti, Uber has already had nearly 30 sign-ups from people eager to earn money from local transportation through its system.

Uber is a highly controversial service because it offers its affiliates the opportunity to transport people locally without a taxi license, and at prices lower than those charged by taxi companies. In Europe, taxi drivers have protested in multiple cities against Uber, some countries have banned the service's activity on their own territory, and now he is trying to conquer Romania in the capital, which has a multitude of extremely influential taxi companies.

I'm 100% sure that Uber will find enough people willing to be a part of its service, but it will be interesting to see how the taxi companies react, especially from a legal point of view. Uber looked for "loopholes" in the taxi laws in each country and exploited them to launch its service, but it was not successful everywhere and I am extremely interested to see how things will evolve in Romania.

Thanks to Mihai.
