WhatsApp Messenger is the most used text messaging application on the planet with over half a billion people who access it daily to chat with friends or various acquaintances. What few people know is that WhatsApp Messenger does not generate any profit for Facebook, and the American company intends to take care of this in the immediate future.

According to information that appeared today, Facebook test the implementation of advertisements inside the conversations made by users through the application WhatsApp Messenger. For now, those at Facebook are testing methods to implement these ads without affecting the user experience, only the people testing the application for the company seeing them for now.

The Facebook company claims that it will not ask for additional money for use WhatsApp Messenger, but that placing advertisements in conversations and the chat interface could be a solution for monetization in the future. No one from Facebook wanted to go into details about the possible other monetization methods considered, but there is a possibility that users will have the option to hide the advertisements with in-app purchases.

Despite the fact that Facebook is testing these advertisements, the company does not yet know if it will ever implement them or not, so the WhatsApp Messenger application will remain ad-free for now. Whether they will appear in the future or not remains to be seen, but looking at how Facebook monetizes its own social network, I would say that sooner or later we will definitely see ads in WhatsApp Messenger.
